Operations Excellence Lean Leader
 

Position Description: 

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Operations Excellence Lean Leader will act as the change agent for process improvement and lean manufacturing implementation and practices; driving the lean transformation and sustainment per directed expectations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Works with the production leadership team to define and educate workforce on a lean transformation plan which will provide key deliverables in the areas of first time quality, cycle time reduction, cost reduction, waste elimination, increased capacity and improved efficiency.

  • Works with the site training department to develop programs to teach the workforce on lean manufacturing tools and concepts such as KanBan, Kaizen, Value Stream mapping, visual factory, pull and error proofing, 5S and cellular manufacturing.

  • Utilizes six-sigma and lean manufacturing tools to identify cost savings opportunities; then conducts economic feasibility studies for projects identified through lean events, collects and analyzes data and provides proposals to management.

  • Provides cost estimates and capital expenditure justification as necessary.

  • Works with production team to prioritize the projects identified and approved.

  • Work with manufacturing and packaging to improve productivity through measurements, analysis, development and implementation of tools such as changeover reduction, process performance, downtime analysis and cycle time reduction.

  • Conducts and refines a standardized work process.

  • Assists the Production team Leader in setting and measurement of actual performance against productivity standards.

  • Develops , measures and reports on team quality, productivity and financial metrics

  • Assists Product Launch Managers and Project Managers in new product introduction and team related project completion.

  • Develop and manage reporting system comparing actual production performance against established standards and publish explanations for variances.

  • Coordinate the annual budget and quarterly outlook process as it relates to manufacturing cell capacity, manpower requirements, and equipment availability for the team.

  • Supports and meets Departmental, Plant and Corporate HS&E goals. Works in a safe and efficient manner.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree or related discipline desired (or equivalent education/ training/ experience). 

  • Minimum of 10 years of documented world-class lean manufacturing experience. Lean Certification desirable.

  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing related safety requirements.

  • Able to mentor and facilitate lean culture change in an environment with varying acceptance.

  • Knowledge of personal computer applications required (Excel, Word, Visio, and PP).

  • Excellent Team Facilitation Skills.

  • Extensive Gemba-based continuous improvement based tools/techniques.

  • Excellent documented leadership skills.

  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills with the ability to speak and communicate effectively with both senior management and production

  • Ability to assign priorities in a fast-paced and changing environment.

  • Ability to interpret manufacturing schematics and blueprints.

Operations Excellence / Continuous Improvement Manager
 

My client has an exciting opportunity for an experienced "hands on" Operational Excellence / Continuous Improvement Manager, ideally Black Belt certified, from Aerospace/Automotive background. Proven knowledge and experience in the application of LEAN tools inc; VSM, 5S, Standardised Work, Visual Management, Waste Elimination (MUDA), Set Up Improvement, TPM, Line Balancing, Pull Production, Root Cause Analysis & Problem Solving, is required for this challenging role that offers excellent career progression.


Primary Function:


This position is responsible to lead Lean and Six Sigma process deployment, training and mentoring at the all levels within the plant. Main job duties centre on the creation and implementation of Lean and Six Sigma strategies, which will lead to improvements in factory Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery.


Essential Functions:

  • Work through the leadership team to lead the development and implementation of the site Lean and Six Sigma strategy, actions, and cross-functional activities.
  •  Provide site Lean and Six Sigma training including kaizen events.
  • Conduct Lean System assessments, and identify performance gaps. Work through the leadership team to prioritize improvement activities and close gaps.
  • Provides Lean and Six Sigma support across the organization to drive short-term and long term business improvements.
  • Utilize Lean and Six Sigma tools to eliminate waste driving customer satisfaction, cost reduction, improve value add and working capital performance.
  • Work through site leadership to Lead the site continuous improvement team, and corporate Lean initiatives and reporting.

Having come from Operations, you will understand the “Lean Transformation” efforts must improve the P&L or you are wasting your time. Working closely with their clients to understand their expected deliverables of the “Lean Transformation” effort, and through Value Stream Analysis, help them find the leverage to drive measurable results to the bottom line. During the “Transformation,” they help the client understand where they’re leaving “money on the table” and what they have to do to get it.

Trained In the Toyota Production System (TPS) you will have several years "Line Operations Experience" and be able to assess the clients needs and what needs to be done to achieve their objectives.

Windchill Administrator 
 

Job Role:                            

Assist the PLM manager with the overall support, development, and interface to other enterprise applications, for all engineering tools, to include PLM, CAD and other engineering software. Within the position, this post shall work with various departments to ensure engineering tools meet the business needs/requirements of a very dynamic workforce.

 

Key Objectives & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the implementation of enterprise-wide Windchill PLM solution along with supporting its sustainment

  • Assist with the development and deployment of cross-functional business priorities as they relate to the various engineering tools (especially Windchill 9.1 & CATIA V5)

  • Maintain software inventory

  • Ensure proper support and resolution of issues related to all engineering software/tools

  • Define and manage users, groups, roles and security in the system

  • Support with the PLM Manager to maintain and upgrade workflows/processes if required

  • Generate and provide training material for Windchill

 

Experience, Qualifications & Competency Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years total experience in systems implementation, IT applications support, and/or consulting with PLM and heterogeneous applications.

  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to effectively interface with other departments and/or professionals

  • Must be able to work on a self-initiated basis or in a team environment and be able to react to a dynamic workforce and remain calm under pressure.

  • Ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment

  • Ability to provide guidance & support to less experienced professionals

  • Ability to understand general supply chain management & configuration management principles

  • Windchill 9.1/10 experienced desired; Windchill PLM implementation experience is plus

My client is looking for an experienced consultant with experience in Visual Management, kaizen projects, Lean, 6Sigma, in automotive industry and health care would be a plus.

 

The ideal candidate should be able to conduct autonomously improvement programs in many sectors, being able to adapt to different environment and culture

Language skill: English and French mandatory.
